Can  MSc  Students  take GATE Exam???

Dear all,

I'm Sathish kumar, I have completed my
MSc(Applied Electronics)in coimbatore. I wish to do
M.tech in Electronics field ,but most of the people
says that many universities & colleges doesn't allow
MSc students to do M.tech in their desired field the
... they 'll give IT , Networking like that only......
I couldn't get clear idea, so please help me..

please give some suggestion for the MSc students to
do GATE best.
