Bollywood high school: A blast from the past

 

 
There are those days when you bump into your old high-school yearbook and out pop photographs from a past that still surprises you. There was that girl you had a crush on, there was that smart chap who you thought will discover the cure for cancer but now owns a chemist shop, then there was that chauffeur-driven kid from the neighbourhood with home-cooked lunch for the entire class. There were also the makeovers, how Johnny got his hairline done and how Suzie took care of those bunny teeth. Almost everytime, you're just shocked at how they turned out - for better or for the very worst!

Photographs that'll leave you numb with shock, and about how Bollywood stars have adapted to changing times. There was the chest hair from the late 80s, the bushy monobrows from the early 90s and the sunglasses from 1995.

And first on the list is good ol' Akki and wow, is it autumn yet? The Bollywood hero's Khiladi days were memorable with the long hair and white jeans. And who can forget him hanging out from a helicopter and locking fists from some of the biggest men even seen on film. Akshay sure has come a long way in Bollywood and hair or no hair, he rules!

No, you don't need glasses to figure this out. The class nerd's gone all the way and done Ghajini. Did you ever think tiny would go ahead and flaunt eight-pack abs and bulging muscles all over the place? We're talking about Aamir Khan who barely stood a foot taller than the camera's lowest angle!

Aishwarya Rai

The girl in class who had lipstick for lunch. Aishwarya Rai's 'high-school' photograph sends a shiver down many who've been watching her movies. Who would have thought she would one day make brand ambassador material for a cosmetics giant

Shahrukh Khan
 

King Khan from the days he played the class clown. Has anyone forgotten Yes Boss or that suit he wore to work? SRK has long progressed in Bollywood to become one of the most stylish stars of our generation and even if he looked like a rejected mannequin a few years ago, we still adore him!

Salman Khan

Bollywood's most-wanted! The kid who sat in the last bench shooting saliva pellets at Aamir is now the biggest threat to birthday parties, people sleeping out in the roads, girlfriends and yes, rare species of deer. But the forever bad boy has always been the looker, as is evident from wallpapers close to a decade old!

Priyanka Chopra

The Dostana babe was a former Miss World and it shows. Apologies for the wallpaper quality (they were made by teenage kids who knew a bit about Photoshop) but the changes are noticeable - like fire and cheese!

Preity Zinta
 

The girl in class with the heaviest bag and pony tails now owns an IPL team.. Preity Zinta's shot from the past dropped most of us off our chairs. Wonder what the star did to get her new look?
Hrithik Roshan

We all knew he had the muscles (not the voice) to become a Bollywood rage and rage he did. Producer daddy Rakesh Roshan made sure his son got a massive opening, a double role, songs to dance to and a female co-star who wouldn't complain about being in the background - not for a long time!

Saif Ali Khan
 

Kareena's boyfriend was something of a disaster when he entered Bollywood - a wreck few could repair. Squeaky voice, like he had swallowed lunch money and that disastrous hair cut. Saif's makeover has been one of the best in Bollywood ever, a claim to fame like no other. All we know is, he survived the worst.

Sanjay Dutt

Before Sallu, there was Sanjay. Caught in a storm of his own creation, Sanjay Dutt's tragic history lies in the fact that he spent most of his best years in prisons, rehabs and in lonely rooms. Sanjay too has survived the worst and if the skeletons in the closet are now at peace, we'll let him continue down the road to everlasting fame!

Shilpa Shetty

She's Bollywood's ambassador to the Queen and Richard Gere just couldn't resist a pecker. But we're so glad all this fame didn't happen a few years earlier. Shilpa Shetty was just about the most garishly dressed stars around in the early 90s. But a few years and a whole lot of beauty tips later, Shilpa is now in the IPL, Bollywood's face worldwide and yes, much better dressed!
