GATE, like CAT and unlike GRE, GMAT or Board examinations, is a zero
sum game. You need to beat someone else to rise up the ranks. You
should always remember the fact that you are adjudged relatively, not
absolutely. Hence, your rank obviously depends on how you performed
relative to your competitors. It does not really matter whether you
got 89 marks out of 150, or 148 marks out of 150. What matters the
most is how many people you have beaten and how many people have
beaten you.

The following list gives us an indication of the degree of
competition that was there in GATE 2004.

As we can see, only 137 applicants out of every 1000 applicants in
computer science stream were qualified, and only 4 out of 1000
applicants were admitted in premier institutions like IITs and IISc.

i found another way, that all key points of a prticular chapter in the syllabus,throuh our text book & any application part needed to those points, think once, i think for every chapter reader may found some puzzles, problametic to solve which need more basics.To solve, better who had better than this......think once. so, prescribed text books back side for every chapters solve problametic, coop up those to get more knowledge which widen your era of thought to wards more fundamental level, at least for typical like you feel, more marks possible era like.........k. all the best for good future scintists to build great socity ,& india.

1. for computer science paper if you go through

all the course you may forget what is where,will

need a 1 year preparation and donot get a good score.

2. but if you go through the question papers and

try to solve it without prior reading and then

only go through the portions which you cannot

solve will be better.

so according to me the second option is better!

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an All-India
Examination conducted by the Seven IITs and IISC, Bangalore, on behalf
of the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of
India. The objectives of GATE is to identify meritorious and motivated
